Fuoco a Portella della Ginestra - Sicily

Purtroppo la forte ondata di scirocco che sta colpendo la Sicilia sta causando grossissimi disagi. Non solo l'isola è soggetta al caldo con temperature che sfiorano, e talvolta superano, i 40°C ma purtroppo è soggetta all'azione criminale di numerosi piromani che, con fare coordinato, hanno appiccato il fuoco a vaste aree della Sicilia occidentale. In questo momento la Luna sta sorgendo sopra l'orizzonte ma le sue tinte rosse non sono dovute unicamente agli strati bassi dell'atmosfera ma anche al bagliore del fuoco e all'interazione delle ceneri. Il fuoco ha colpito la zona tra Piana degli Albanesi, San Giuseppe Jato e soprattutto Portella della Ginestra dove è stato bruciato il monumento dedicato alla famosa strage del primo maggio 1947 quando il bandito Salvatore Giuliano e i mafiosi suoi complici spararono contro un gruppo di contadini che manifestavano per la riforma agraria con la quale speravano di cambiare le loro vite e l’immobilismo dell'economia latifondista e mafiosa vigente in Sicilia. Questa fotografia lascia l'amaro in bocca perchè associa la bellezza di un paesaggio astronomico con il dramma degli incendi e l'inciviltà di alcuni delinquenti che hanno purtroppo rovinato uno dei luoghi simboli della lotta e del riscatto sociale della storia siciliana.

At this moment the Moon is rising above the horizon but its red tints are not only due to the lower layers of the atmosphere but also to the glow of the fire and the interaction of the ashes. The fire hit the area between Piana degli Albanesi, San Giuseppe Jato and above all Portella della Ginestra where the monument dedicated to the homonymous massacre was burned during which the Bandit Giuliano fired at a group of farmers who demonstrated in favor of agrarian reform with the which they hoped to change the status quo of the landowner and mafia economy in force in Sicily. This photograph leaves a bad taste in the mouth because it associates the beauty of an astronomical landscape with the drama of the fires and the incivility of some criminals who have unfortunately ruined one of the symbolic places of struggle and social redemption in Sicilian history.
